How to Make Mulled Wine

Mulled Wine is a huge deal abroad, with festivals and gatherings celebrating the beloved drink. Here at Escapada Living, we believe it needs to get some lovin' in the states too.

Mulled Wine combines two of our favorite things -- the perfect drink to warm you up after a chilly day out, and wine. The flavoring is a mix of sangria sweetness with some spices to keep you wanting more. It will warm your body as well as your home, making everything smell amazing.

Seriously, they even made a candle out of its scent..

Cook: 15 min

Total: 20 min

What you will need:

  • 1 bottle of a dry red wine (we recommend Merlot)
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • ¼ cup brandy (optional)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Garnishing: citrus slices of orange, lime, or lemon

Directions: Over medium heat, combine all the ingredients into a non-aluminum saucepan, bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, and let wine simmer for at least 15 minutes. Strain, and serve warm. Garnish with citrus slices.
