4 Margaritas to Brighten Your Day

February 22nd is National Margarita Day. A day for tequila lovers everywhere to unite and celebrate their favorite party cocktail. In preparation for the warm weather and National Margarita day, we’ve collected some of our favorite recipes. These cocktails scream spring and are the perfect mood booster for your Thursday happy hour!

Coconut Margarita

This recipe takes your basic margarita and gives it a tropical spin.  It’s the perfect combination between a piña colada and your favorite margarita. This Coconut Margarita will have you feeling like you’ve escaped to paradise.

Ingredients (Serves 2)
3 oz. tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. fresh lime juice
2 oz. coconut milk
2 oz. coconut cream
8oz coconut water
Splash of simple syrup
Lime wedges for garnish

Directions: Shake and strain into a glass and serve on the rocks with a lime wedge.

Prickly Pear Margaritas

The prickly pear cactus thrives in the desserts of the Southwest. This cocktail uses the syrup derived from the bulbous red fruit. The Prickly Pear Margarita has a distinctive flavor that has made it famous in the American Southwest.  Don’t let the name scare you away, the fruit tastes like a mix of bubblegum and watermelon.

Ingredients (Serves 3)
3 oz. Desert Pear Syrup
4 ½ oz. premium tequila
9 oz. premium sweet and sour mix
4 ½ oz. fresh squeezed lime juice

For the Rim: Zest of 1 lime & ¼ cup kosher salt

Directions: Prepare salt rim by finely zesting one lime and mixing it with the kosher salt.  Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glasses and dip in the lime salt.  Combine all ingredients in a tall shaker with ice and shake until chilled.  Strain into three glasses filled with ice.  Garnish with mint springs & lime rounds.

Ginger Beergaritas

Also know as a Mexican mule, these ginger beer margaritas have a refreshing bite with the perfect amount of sweetness.  The ginger syrup has a crisp, palette-cleansing flavor that makes them the perfect drink to serve for every occasion!

Ingredients (Serves 1)
4 ounces ginger beer
2 ounces lime juice
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce grand Marnier liqueur
1/2 ounce ginger simple syrup
fresh limes for garnish
Coarse salt for the rim

Ginger Syrup:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger

Directions: Add the ginger beer, lime juice, tequila, grand Marnier and ginger simple syrup to a shaker with ice and gently shake to combine.  Rim the edge of your chilled glasses with a lime wedge and then dip it into coarse ground salt to coat.  Fill the glass with a few cubes of ice and pour over your cocktail!

Elderflower Margarita

Nothing beats a homemade margarita with fresh squeezed lime juice and high grade tequila.  Combine that with the floral notes of the Elderflower liquour and you have the perfect spring margarita recipe. This cocktail is a crowd pleaser and pairs perfectly with chips and guacamole!

Ingredients (Serves 1)
2 oz. of good Reposado tequila
1 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liquor
1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
Sliced lime for garnish

Directions: Rub a slice of lime around the rim of the glass and dip into coarse sea salt.  Fill with ice cubes.  Combine tequila, St. Germain and lime juice into an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake until cold and strain into your prepared glass!
